High Energy Astrophysics, Compact Objects, X-rays and Gravitational Waves, Black Holes and X-ray Binaries, Supernovae, Accretion
I was born and raised in Baia Mare, Romania 🇷🇴 where I attended the Vasile Lucaciu National College for high school.Â
I moved to California to attend Stanford University, where I pursued a Physics major, with a concentration in Astrophysics and a minor in Math.
Following that, I obtained a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Michigan. My work with Jon M. Miller aimed to describe the distribution of spins across stellar-mass Black Holes, focusing mainly on the sources observed in X-ray binary systems.
Now, I live in Cambridge, MA. I am a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research at MIT. I am part of the Kara and Burdge research groups.
In my free time, I like to play video games, I enjoy (mostly watching but occasionally playing) soccer, archery, and photography.
